About this opportunity

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of BASScare.

Assist clients with dementia & memory loss enjoy bus outings, socialisation and in-house activities. Starting at Maranoa Club in Canterbury, volunteers will support staff welcoming clients to the day program, engage with clients in conversation throughout the day, assist staff in escorting clients on and off a 12 seater bus and make a valuable contribution helping provide support whilst engaging and contributing towards an enjoyable outing activity for all.

Our adult dementia support program focuses on socialisation. Volunteers are warmly welcomed into this home style program, will receive support from staff and be given the opportunity to interact with clients whilst learning more about dementia. Some additional in-house support such as setting up activities, serving morning/afternoon tea or lunch and general tasks also required.

We are seeking people with empathy, understanding and patience.

An onsite induction and ongoing staff support will be provided. The opportunity to access online training to learn more about Dementia and aged care also available.


Additional requirements

Covid-19 vaccination . National Police Certificate *.

COVID vaccination including 3rd dose is required, (flu vaccination highly recommended)

Time Required

9.30am to 3.30pm Tuesdays, some flexibility available
