Social Support volunteers

Community Services Regular - more than 6 months Kew VIC

About this opportunity

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of The Boroondara Stroke Support Group.

The Boroondara Stroke Support Group (BSSG) was started by a stroke survivor 20 years ago to support other stroke survivors and their carers in rebuilding their post-stroke lives. The group runs a variety of fun activities to provide social support to its members - including

  • Chatterbox group (for speech)
  • Sing For Recovery choir
  • Able X (upper limb training)
  • Young Stroke Support Group
  • Lawn Bowls
  • Gardening
  • Art and Cooking groups and more

We are looking for more volunteers to join our fun and caring team. Assistance could include administration tasks eg helping put together volunteer position descriptions, typing up members stories, or more social support eg calling members to check on their well-being, sitting one on one with a member while they do upper limb training (Able X), getting teas or coffees, or helping members get to activities. We'd love to hear from you.
