ABOUT LYF Now in its 13th year of operation, Leading Youth Forward (LYF) is a completely volunteer-run organisation which provides a structured mentoring and development program to around 80 at-risk Perth teens in years 7 to 10. Teens are carefully matched with a mentor typically aged between 22 - 39, who provides one-on-one support and encouragement to build confidence, nurture personal growth and positively influence their teen at a critical stage in their life. We run five teen events a year, including one weekend-long camp and four ‘Big Days Out’.

ABOUT THE ROLE The Treasurer is responsible for all aspects of managing the finances of the organisation. To ensure that the LYF program continues to impact at-risk young people, we need to ensure the financial security of the organisation. Our Treasurer oversees all things finances including budgeting, paying invoices, acquittal of grants and producing our financial reports.

Key duties • Manage banking and payments, including reimbursements for committee members and small group activities • Manage individual donations from GiveNow, EFT and cheques including thank you letters and tax receipts • Maintain and update financial policy and controls • Set the annual budget and report to committee monthly the financial position of the organisation • Ensure sufficient funds are available to achieve the aims and objects of LYF • Effectively manage finances and accounting for compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and guidance • Manage long-term relationships with financial supporters • Recommend overall strategic vision and mission, especially where related to fundraising • Coordinate the organisation’s Annual Report and complete annual financial statements including co-ordinating auditors and submitting to relevant bodies • Complete bookkeeping using MYOB • Assist with fundraising as required • Attend monthly committee meetings

Additional requirements

National Police Certificate *. Others . Working with Children Check *.

1. Nominees must become a LYF Volunteer by 7 June 2022, which includes but it not limited to registration, providing references, vetting and training, and sign a statutory declaration regarding any criminal history record.
2. Provide a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
3. Agree to abide by LYF policies and processes (including LYF code of conduct); and
4. Sign a statutory declaration confirming that they meet the eligibility criteria set out in the Incorporated Associations Act (WA) 2015 that you:
a) Are not currently bankrupt
b) Have not been convicted of an indictable offence in relation to a body corporate (white collar crime)
c) Have not committed an offence involving fraud or dishonesty punishment imprisonment

Members (i.e. current volunteers) of Leading Youth Forward will vote in ordinary committee members at the Annual General Meeting on 8 June 2022.

Time Required

Approximately 2 hours per week, more in the lead up to events.
