About this opportunity

We are seeking volunteers who can teach/share their knowledge, skills and the fundamentals of working with food and preparing nutritious meals. You will be helping our residents to gain basic knowledge and skills while they are participating in our Womens drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. It is important for the women to gain new skills and participate in activites that could go toward helping them re enter the workforce and community. You will have access to a commerical grade kitchen. In small groups you will teach participants workplace safety and hygiene procedures, how to follow recipes, work under instruction and to be part of a team that works cohesively.


Additional requirements

Covid-19 vaccination . Driver's Licence (C) . Driver's Licence (LR) . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.

Be a role model and the ability to patiently share the fundamentals of kitchen operation and meal preparation. A commitment to privacy and confidentiality is a must. Good communication skills, non judgemental attitude, maturity and a genuine interest/desire to help people in need. Must have a caring and supportive nature.
A passion and knowledge for working with food, previous experience in training/teaching and planning classes for small groups an advantage. Industry experience at a minium, formal qualifications in kitchen operations or food service industry is desirable.
A certificate in training and assessment is advantageous but not required.
Previous experience in working with women and or in the drug and alcohol field would be an advantage but not essential as training options can be discussed.
