Volunteer Cooking Club Support
About this opportunity
The Little Green Hands Cooking Club aims to give students enrolled at Thomastown West Primary school additional educational support through cooking. A significant number of these students come from culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Each terms the students develop their own cookbook of recipes made throughout the term.
Volunteer Key Responsibilties:-
Support the learning needs of students in a fun and friendly manner.
Assist with weekly cooking activity (includes supporting students to write down the recipe and follow the steps).
Help with set up and pack up.
Develop positive relationships with students in the program.
Reporting any concerns around student wellbeing to staff within the program.
Additional requirements
Covid-19 vaccination . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.
Skills, experience and attributes
Interest and desire in assisting students with their education
Empathy for people with different life experiences
Understanding of Whittlesea Community Connection’s mission to address disadvantage in the community, and to promote community participation.
Ability to work within operational policies and maintain confidentiality
Ability to work in a culturally appropriate way with both young people and parents
An understanding of the refugee experience within Australia
Ability to work with child safe parameters
One hour and a half hours per week 3:15 – 4:45 pm Tuesdays Face to face
