Also a diverse range of community services, government agencies and local businesses, who provide support options and assistance to our clients. Local businesses and commercial services to assist with implementing property and tenancy services to our clients.

Overview of Board Treasurer role

The Treasurer is a leadership role and is part of INCH’s finance team which includes INCH’s President, the CEO, our Accountant and members of the Finance and Audit Sub-Committee.

Overview of Duties include:- • Monitor and oversee the financial affairs of the organisation • Ensure all legislative requirements are adhered to at all times i.e. Taxation Laws, Payroll, etc. • Perform statutory duties including public officer for ATO and duties as required for the ACNC • Register with INCH’s bank as a signatory for cheques and internet banking • Engage weekly in internet banking process for payment of bills and wages, 3pm bank cut off time • Present monthly and quarterly financial reports to the Board. • Ensure that efficient and robust systems of accountability are in place. • Regularly monitor individual program budgets. • Ensure books of accounts are up to date and in order • Ensure that a Financial Audit is arranged each year and that all relevant information and books of accounts are provided to auditors. • Ensure that tasks are done on time, information provided is accurate and that all financial accountability documentation required by funding bodies is completed and returned with the specified time-frame. This can occur through the formation of a Finance & Audit Sub Committee Treasurer, CEO, Accountant and other interested Board member(s) which will meet as delegated by the Board. • Serve as Chair of the Financial and Audit Sub-Committee • Advising the Board on financial strategy – relating to INCH’s Business Plan and Strategic Goals.

Expected Commitment and Contributions to INCH:-

• You must have previous not for profit experience in the not for profit sector.

. You must be able to commit to a minimum of 12 months service on the Board.

• You must be able to attend at least the minimum required scheduled Board Meetings (12 -14 in-person meetings per annum which are usually held on the third Tuesday or Wednesday night of the month).

• You must be able to contribute approximately 1 – 4 hrs per week to undertake the duties and responsibilities of a Board member.

• Involvement in implementing INCH’s Business and Strategic goals, average is around 1 – 4 hrs per week.

. Assist and actively participate in INCH's fundraising events and activities

• You must have a passion for community housing, understanding that your contribution as a board member is first and foremost to serve and advance the interests of INCH, its tenants and members.

• Be aware of and prepared to adequately discharge your legal duties and responsibilities associated with being a not-for-profit board member

The Treasurer should have accounting skills and formal qualifications such as a Bachelor of Accounting and be a member of an accounting authority, CPA or CA Australia. They must have experience in the not-for-profit sector.

Bankruptcy and reference checks are also a requirement

Time Required

This Treasurer role is a casual vacancy on INCH's Board. Board members are elected at annual AGM or via casual vacancy. We have between 12-14 meeting per year, there are mostly held on Tuesday evenings between 6pm and 9pm. Also there are some other meeting required throughout the year. It is expected that between 4-10 hour per week is required.
