Being a friend for an elderly person in an aged care facility

Seniors & Aged Care Regular - more than 6 months Across: Lockleys SA, Morphettville SA, Glenelg SA

About this opportunity

Your key role is to be a friend by visiting a lonely person in an aged care facility. You are asked to visit once/week for 30 minutes or once/fortnight for 60 minutes for a minimum of 40 weeks/year - or as close as possible. Skills: you need to be a friendly and caring person who is understanding of the limitations of an elderly person. Organisation involves 3 things: 1. visit regularly 2. keep a record of each visit 3. send in time sheet every 3 months to the ACVVS co-ordinator. Visit, chat & complete some paperwork with ACVVS co-ordinator 2. Complete SAPOL police clearance with co-ordinator - at not cost to you 3. Have two referee statements 4. Have current flu & COVID vaccinations & records.


Additional requirements

Covid-19 vaccination . Flu vaccination . National Police Certificate *.

You will need to get to the aged care facility yourself.

Time Required

Time required: a minimum of 30 minutes a week per school term OR 60 minutes a fortnight per school term. This is a year's commitment, or as close as possible.

Training

You will be given a support as you start visiting and a short induction about visiting elderly people in aged care. The CVS co-ordinator is available for your support. The Lifestyle Co-ordinator at the facility will also give you support.

There is no reimbursement.
