Community Garden Coordination Assistant

About this opportunity

This volunteering role would work alongside the Centre Manager and Network coordinator to assist in the development and implementation of the adopt-a-plot model. Under the model, groups and individuals tend to a garden bed or plot and harvest vegetables for their own use or donate harvest back to the MLYCC food pantry, which serves vulnerable community members. The role might include communicating with our team of community members to organise and promote working bees, events or activities associated with the garden. Reviewing and help developing Community Garden Guidelines in consultation with users. Reviewing use of the garden and assisting to implement initiatives to increase use. Connecting with resources to improve and promote the garden. Connecting with other volunteers to improve the use of and engagement with the garden.

This is a new initiative so a wonderful opportunity to create something from the beginning!

We would be looking for someone (1 or 2 people) who could meet weekly or fortnightly- in person or via TEAMS for an hour or two to engage with the project.


Additional requirements

National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.

The ideal volunteer would have basic computer skills and would have the ability to attend the centre in Conder independently.

Time Required

2 hours per week or fortnight. Initial avaiability during work week (Monday-Friday) time can be flexible to suit ideal candidate.
