Community Volunteer - Southern Highlands

Disaster Relief One off - a few hours Across: Bargo NSW, Bowral NSW, Bundanoon NSW, Burrawang NSW, Mittagong NSW, Moss Vale NSW, Robertson NSW, Wingello NSW

About this opportunity

Australians in disaster-prone areas need your help (no skills required!) As a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, you can help make a real difference to bush communities.

Our new project offers practical support to build resilience and the capacity to manage bushfire prevention activities.

The catastrophic ‘Black Summer’ bushfires of 2019/2020 left many communities in NSW particularly exposed to future bushfire seasons. There’s been huge amounts of vegetation growth since the fires, yet many residents remain isolated and unable to carry out the work needed to practically prepare their homes for future bushfire seasons.

Our volunteers work alongside vulnerable residents to clear fire-prone vegetation, provide minor building maintenance, and generally prepare homes and properties for bushfires. One day of your time can make a real difference.

If you have any questions or would like to know more about our involvement in bushfire recovery and resilience in the Southern Highlands or South Coast of NSW before applying, please contact Philip Sen, [email protected]
