The program

The Delivered Meals Program is a great opportunity for anyone who would enjoy visiting a variety of people in their homes and who wants to provide care and support to those in need.  By volunteering  just 1-2 hours of your time per week you can ensure that those who may not be able to cook for themselves receive a nutritious cooked meal and a nice chat to brighten their day. Your support and assistance can make all the difference in the lives of those people who need it most, and we're sure that you'll enjoy it too!

The opportunity

Our Launceston Office is looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to be part of a team delivering daily meals to people within our community.   As a delivered meals volunteer you will meet some wonderful people, learn about Australian food standards and safety, build your personal and communication skills and support the everyday work of Red Cross within the community.

A minimum commitment of just 1-2 hours a week is required to volunteer. No experience is necessary and all training is provided.

Red Cross is an inclusive organisation and welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and experience levels, so if you have some spare time and want to give back to your community we’d love to hear from you.

The impact

Many people in our community find it difficult to cook for themselves, often due to a lack of mobility which can also result in social isolation.  As a Red Cross Delivered Meals Volunteer, you’ll  be helping these people access not only nutritious food, but also some much appreciated human contact. As a Red Cross Volunteer, you'll have lots of fun, develop valuable skills, get access to further development and be part to the world’s largest humanitarian network.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

Volunteers are required to meet COVID-19 Vaccination requirements, as per government mandate.
