Further duties of the role;
Ensure that everyone is safe. Facilitate the opportunity for athletes to have a go, compete and enjoy athletics. Create a positive environment to which athletes will want to return. Be consistent, fair and objective when making decisions, giving the athlete the benefit of the doubt. Compliment and encourage all participants. Ensure that the activity is conducted within "the spirit of the game" and that sportsmanship underpins all actions. Ensure that your body language and verbal comments are positive. Abide by the Officials Code of Conduct.
There are also development and training pathways available to officials including courses ranging from level 0 to level 5. Depending on the qualification level, opportunities become available across a range of major meets, including National Championships and Commonwealth Games meets. There are also development and training pathways available through the Australian Athletics Officials Education Scheme. Depending on the qualification level.

Further requirements for the Surf Coast Little Athletics volunteer role include working as a member of a team, positive attitude towards sport and children, ability to work under pressure, work well with other people, exercise punctuality, tact and patience, Additionally, it will be looked upon favourably to have good communication skills, demonstrate positive behaviours such as respect, patience and maturity, be reliable and committed to the volunteering role, work autonomously as well as part of a team, adhering to Surf Coast Little Athletic’s policies and procedures and do not forget to have fun.
