Comlink Companions - Ipswich / West Moreton Area

Seniors & Aged Care Regular - more than 6 months Across: Ipswich QLD, Bundamba QLD, Redbank Plains QLD, Karana Downs QLD

About this opportunity

Comlink Companions play a vital role by providing much needed social support to those who may otherwise be isolated and lonely. This volunteer role promotes genuine connections and helps to establish links between older people and their community, providing a unique opportunity for you to learn about their stories and life experiences. The way clients and volunteers spend their time together is up to them, but may involve going for a short walk, having a coffee together, visiting in the home, gardening, going to the cinema, visiting the shops, or any activity of interest.

The role requires you to travel to the homes of a senior you have been paired with and provide them with company for 1.5 to 2 hours on a fortnightly basis. This can be any day of the week mornings or afternoons, and what you do during this time is up to the two of you but if it’s something you both like to do, Comlink is all for it and will try to make it happen!

We are looking for volunteers from all walks of life who are interested in getting to know our clients, forming genuine connections, and sharing life experiences and common interests. Great communication skills, listening skills and patience are a must, along with being trusted with confidential information.

There are clients in need at various locations around Ipswich.
