About this opportunity

Volunteers will work in six areas of the hospital:

  1. Every day a volunteer will visit inpatients and attend to their flowers
  2. Escorting patients and their relatives throughout the hospital and clinics and in the Emergency Department.
  3. Provide refreshments and comfort for the waiting patients and their families in the clinics and discharge lounge.
  4. Serving in the Shop and visiting ward with a Shop Trolley.
  5. Assisting the staff with mailouts of appointments, newsletters and information and general office duties as required. Everyone who enters the hospital is appreciative of a kind word and help from the volunteers...it can be a daunting place to visit.


Additional requirements

Covid-19 vaccination . Medical Check *. National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.

A uniform and name tag will be provided and these must be worn at all times while on duty. Attendance at the yearly Mandatory Emergency Training session is required.

Time Required

Following a suitable time frame for training that is acceptable to both the volunteer and the leader most shifts are 2-4 hours once or more a week, depending on the area worked. Shifts can be weekly, fortnightly or even monthly.

Training

Training in each service area is provided for as long as necessary for the volunteer to feel comfortable in the role. There is always a 'buddy' to accompany all new volunteers until they are trained. lunteer to feel comfortable in the role. Mandatory emergency procedures training lunteer and the Leader to be comfortable with the assigned role.

Reimbursement

We will pay the costs of Criminal Record Check, Working With Children Check, Health Screening Check.
