The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Ashburton Community Centre.

About Our Centre: Our Centre is a community-owned and managed not-for-profit organisation offering activities, programs and events developed in response to the needs of the community. We offer a broad range of activities to our members and we are based on High street, Ashburton.

Who we are looking for: We are seeking expressions of interest to join our voluntary Committee of Management, contributing to the strategic direction and planning for the Centre. We have a focus on financially sustainable operations and have strong strategic, governance and planning processes and policies in place.

We are seeking someone who can:

  • Contribute to the work of the Committee of Management in developing growth and community engagement
  • Attend monthly Committee meetings (evenings, third Wednesday of every month) and AGM
  • Contribute to sub-committees
  • Involvement and/or attendance at Centre fundraising initiatives and events

We are hoping to find volunteers with any of the following skills/experience/interests:

  • governance
  • policy development
  • secretarial duties
  • fundraising & event planning
  • community arts
  • current/previous connection with the Ashburton Community Centre

Additional requirements

National Police Certificate *.

Basic Tech/IT capacity including
- ability to send and respond to emails to both individuals and groups and open attachments etc
- ablity to use Dropbox - a file sharing platform
- ability to use WhatsApp

If you do not have this capacity we are happy to offer support and training however you must be willing to undertake training in these areas.

Time Required

- Attend monthly Committee meetings (evenings, third Wednesday of every month) and AGM - Actively contribute to sub-committees, planning and execution of events and workshops based on interest area or skill base
