VisAbility are seeking a Support Group Officer with a genuine interest and passion for volunteering! With a commitment to their cause, you will show enthusiasm and positivity, be able to demonstrate empathy and reliability as well as a willingness to devote a set amount of time regularly to the program. The suitable applicant will have good interpersonal skills and show self-assurance. They should be able to communicate in a non-judgmental manner showing positive and respectful interaction with everyone as well as a willingness to help others.
Duties are as follows:
- Meet with support group on a monthly basis and assist with the setup and pack down of equipment for the group meeting including possible moving of furniture and assistance with tea/coffees.
- Assist with finding guest speakers for each meeting in liaison with an Occupational Therapist.
- Provide instruction and support to clients to facilitate participation in the group.
- Be available for brief periods between sessions to contact group members regarding the upcoming sessions.
