About this opportunity
The Home Library Service for Libraries ACT delivers library material to anyone who can not access the library for reasons including disability, care responsibility, or other marginalisation. They have a large number of volunteering opportunities that have just opened allowing members of the community to carry out deliveries on behalf of the library. Roles are flexible and allow a time commitment as low as 1 hour per month, in a wide variety of regions around Canberra. It's a great way to make a very valuable difference in someone's life.
The service is currently operating in a contactless fashion, and therefore volunteers are encouraged not to enter the homes of people they deliver to, allowing for efficient and professional service.
Furthermore, the deliveries can be done any way that is convenient. Volunteers may choose to drive their vehicle (with an unrestricted license and comprehensive insurance), take public transport, use active transport such as a bicycle, or even walk the delivery to its destination. To add to the convenience, there is flexibility to undertake the role on whatever day is suitable.
Feel free to contact the library on 6207 5748 to discuss this role or to apply.
