About this opportunity

The Community Workshop, a project of the Rotary Club of Morialta, operates daily in morning and afternoon blocks of approximately 3 hours, and Saturday mornings. We currently have 60 active members who enjoy fellowship and skill sharing whilst engaged in various personal projects, such as restorations and many other projects. These products will then be utilised for community use or sale, such as bread boards and bird nesting boxes.

Job Description The Workshop Assistant Supervisor is responsible for assisting the session Supervisor or Manager of the Community Workshop to ensure volunteers are working correctly and safely, particularly in the use of tools and machinery. It is essential for all work in the Workshop of the Rotary Club of Morialta to be in accordance with its policy, Rotary’s ideals, insurance requirements, and legal requirements. Part Time: approx. 4-8 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Assist the Workshop Supervisor in observing and supervising volunteers/members during sessions including assisting in project activity, machinery/maintenance, compliance with health and safety policies and procedures, and building and site maintenance.
  • Assist the Workshop Manager and Supervisor with the management of all administration records and activities required for the operation at the Workshop which includes: attendance records, accurate maintenance and service records, and financial activity.
  • Ensure compliance with Legislative requirements such as Health and Safety Laws.

The Community Workshop is not a workplace as defined by the Occupational, Health and Safety Act 1986 as there are no employees working there. However best practice must be followed to ensure a safe environment for participants, members, and visitors. As a volunteer working on an approved activity of our club, you are protected by the Volunteers Protection Act 2001. Promotion of the Workshop to Campbelltown City Council and the public.

SKILLS REQUIRED Experience with woodworking, and operation of power tools and machinery.
