About this opportunity

Are you passionate about books and reading and would you like to help make free children’s books available to families in your community? If you answered “Yes” then we would love to hear from you.

Paint the Swan REaD (PTSR) is a not-for-profit Community Collective Committee that services the suburbs within the City of Swan. PTSR is part of a national educational program that focuses on reading, rhyming, singing and talking to children as early as possible for healthy brain development by providing free books and brain development information to families with children via community SWAP BOXES.

This position will be supervised by the CLAN Midland Community Links Coordinator (CCLC) who will provide on-going support and focused supervision to develop a list of suitable locations for the Swap Boxes to be located and regularly audited and serviced.

There will be opportunities to report about the Swap Boxes you audit with both CLAN Midland and the PTSR Collective Committee. Duties and responsibilities of the PTSR Community Swap Box Volunteer include: • Developing a list of suitable and potential community and business Swap Box locations in a City of Swan suburb/s. • Developing partnerships and relationships with people working in the Swap Box locations. • Administering the Swap Boxes; updating audit lists; replenishing books and information brochures; providing updates to the CLAN Coordinator Community Links and PTSR Collective Committee. • Assistance to promote the PTSR Program into the broader community. • Liaising with other PTSR Volunteers. • Attending occasional PTSR Swap Box Volunteer meetings and training opportunities.
