Volunteer Tutor English for Refugee Women’s Group
About this opportunity
Friends of Refugees (FOR) is an independent not-for-profit organisation which has responded to the world’s worst humanitarian crisis and helps to create a positive future for people seeking asylum and refugees in Australia.
We are seeking a volunteer tutor to provide opportunities for women to learn Basic English as Additional Language (EAL) help to build their confidence and skills, and to enhance their skills for further studies or employment.
Additional requirements
National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.
● Teaching Background with Adults
● Teaching English as additional language for newly arrivals
● Formal computer training in Microsoft Office; Words, Excel, Internet and Outlook.
● Familiarity in working with people from cultural and linguistically diverse
backgrounds.
● Demonstrate sensitivity to a variety of cultures and participants with special
needs
● Excellent interpersonal skills with good listening skills and responding to participants
needs within organisational guidelines.
The English class occurs every Monday and Wednesday from 10.00 - 12.30pm
