About this opportunity
As well as sharing social activities together, Leah’s new friend could be a mentor explaining correspondence and ensuring that Leah is okay with everything happening in her life, including her NDIS plan.
Citizen Advocacy is a not-for-profit organisation funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Social Services. Our aim is to provide additional support to vulnerable people with an intellectual disability by matching them with a caring member of the community who becomes their friend and advocate.
If you think you could be an advocate for Leah or someone like her, please get in touch. We’d love to talk to you! You don’t need special qualifications or skills other than having a big heart, being reliable and the desire to make a difference in someone’s life.
PLEASE NOTE: The nature of this role is NOT suitable for student placements or gaining work experience in the sector. We are unable to sign forms for Centrelink purposes.
