Community Services Regular - more than 6 months Ringwood VIC

About this opportunity

Eastern Volunteers is an innovative, not-for-profit Volunteer Support Organisation operating across the Eastern region of Melbourne. We provide the community and Volunteering Involving Organisations information and advice on volunteering and assist with volunteer placement.

Volunteering provides an opportunity to learn skills, make friends and assist others. It’s a great way for people, regardless of their age, cultural background, location or circumstances, to get involved in their own community.

In this role you will be sharing this information with community members and conducting informal pre-selection interviews to guide them towards appropriate volunteer positions.

Main Duties:

  • Speaking with potential Volunteers in person and via telephone to assess their suitability for specific roles
  • Providing potential volunteers with information/ advice relating to volunteering
  • Assessing volunteer applications and generating referrals
  • Conducting group assessments
  • Data entry and web navigation
  • Document and file management

The person we are looking for must have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to foster inclusivity and a person-centred approach to matching volunteers.

This multifaceted and interesting role would be best suited to someone who is proactive, a ‘people-person’, passionate about diversity and inclusion in volunteering, and is wishing to volunteer on a long-term ongoing basis.

This role is based at our office in Ringwood; however we also have the capacity to recruit virtual assessors for those who have the capabilities to work from home.
