About this opportunity
The Glenunga Cricket Club seeks applications for a Senior Coach for the 2021-22 season and beyond.
The club has four Senior teams playing one-day and two-day cricket. The club committee seeks to lift its Senior team into two-day cricket, so that it can cater for a number of aspirational A Grade players and an extensive junior division with 12 teams, including a possible three U/17 teams to be coached as well. Long term the club has a vision of its A Grade team playing A1 Premier Cricket.
A Senior coach with a history of leadership is the focus, as this is seen as critical to transforming the senior culture and taking it towards successful two-day cricket.
The club has outstanding facilities with two home grounds at the Glenunga HUB on Conyngham St at Glenunga and practice facilities that include turf practice wickets. There are also significant club rooms shared with other local sporting teams making the HUB the major sporting precinct in the area.
The Senior coach’s primary responsibility will be for the A Grade. Captaincy is an option if they seek to play as well as coach. They will also have oversight for the B, C and U/17 grades so those players keen on development to the A Grade can be identified and nurtured, and also Group training & coaching of the Junior Coaches. The successful applicant will oversee training, selection and the clubs cricket structures. It will be a remunerated role.
The Glenunga Cricket Club wants to provide a leadership that will bring culture change and better cricket quality to the way the Senior teams play the game. This includes the spirit in which they play as well as technical and tactical aspects of the game. We are confident the applicants cricket and people management experience will enable them to do this. The outcome of this is that we have an A Grade team playing as high a level of two-day cricket as possible. We seek to fulfil this vision so we can provide a greater level of enjoyment and commitment to the game from our senior players and to provide a legitimate end point for our better junior players to move towards.
