About this opportunity
Play a vital role through your volunteering by providing ongoing companionship and social inclusion to Dan. You will reduce the effects of loneliness and isolation for a person with an intellectual disability. You will also make an amazing, new friend! Danny is a 40-year-old man with Down Syndrome who lives with family in Mulgrave. Danyn is a sociable, chatty person who enjoys going for coffee, visiting car yards, and walking around Bunnings and Ikea. He also enjoys watching cricket. Danny would love to have a friend who is available to hang out and go on outings fortnightly, usually on weekends. No previous experience is required. Competencies include a warm, caring and patient approach as well as empathy, good communication skills and a genuine desire to make a difference. Reliability and a willingness to commit to very regular contact for a minimum of 12 months is a requirement.

NDIS Worker Screening Check and statutory declaration.
Provide contact details for 2 professional referees.
Attendance at an interview with coordinator.
All applicants must be over 18 years of age.
Fortnightly outings for 2-3 hours on weekends as arranged by mutual agreement between volunteer and buddy.Type of work
