About this opportunity
BlazeAid require volunteers to assist in the re-building of fences that were destroyed by the recent Wooroloo Bush Fire.
BlazeAid is looking for experienced fencers who are willing to help the property owners in the Perth Hills on a voluntary basis. This could be for a day, a week, once-off or ongoing.
You must be: • Must be aged 18 years and older • Fit and reliable • Able to work outdoors in the sun for long periods of time • Tetanus injection is up to date as you will be working with wire and other debris • Travel to the basecamp at Brigadoon with own transport • Provide your own safety wear and water bottle (long shirt, long pants, hat) BlazeAid will provide hi vis vests, safety glasses, sunscreen and gloves. Steel caps are not required, but you must have closed in boots suitable for working in a paddock all day. • Provide your own lunch if you are not camping at the basecamp • Volunteers are strongly advised to have Ambulance Cover • Have a give-it-a-go attitude
There is some availability to stay in camp if you have your own accommodation, caravan, camper trailer, motorhome etc. This will be in a paddock and so is not suitable for sleeping bags or swags. Meals are provided to those volunteers staying in camp, however, if you have special dietary needs you will need to bring your own food if you are not able to eat the meals provided. There is some power and access to water for filling water tanks.
For those travelling to the basecamp each day, you will need to arrive before 7am, and on your first day you will need to arrive at approximately 6.40-6.45am as you will need to fill in registration papers.
