Short Back & Sidewalks (SBSW) is a growing Australian not-for-profit celebrated for its contribution to the community. We give haircuts free of charge and free of judgement to members of the community in need. However, our service goes beyond just giving free haircuts; we create meaningful connections through conversations with clients, and create visibility for some of the most marginalised community members in Australia.

We are looking for a fundraising coordinator to help us to manage and grow our fundraising program and cultivate philanthropic support for our activities and growth. This role will initially involve around 4 hours of volunteering per week.

Key Responsibilities

As our fundraising coordinator, you will responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing SBSW’s fundraising plan

  • Providing strategic advice in relation to donor acquisition, engagement and retention

  • Helping to acquire new donors and transition existing donors to higher value giving relationships

  • Communicating and engaging with donors

  • Organising and delivering high quality donor events

  • Developing key philanthropic messages and content for digital communications and campaigns

  • Assisting with managing donor databases

  • Reporting to the CEO on targets and financial and KPI progress

Key Skills

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the below key skills:

  • Experience with fundraising, grant-writing and/or donor support (highly desirable)

  • Ability to work independently and achieve targets

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with supporters and develop relationships

  • Ability to lead a portfolio/fundraising program with confidence

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Values that align with SBSW values of creating connections and being inclusive

  • Interest in, or connection to, the Arts (highly desirable)
