Front-of-house Volunteer, Friday Music

Arts & Culture Regular - less than 6 months Sydney NSW

About this opportunity

Friday Music concerts are weekly performances of classical and operatic music at lunchtime on Fridays.

The music is performed by a variety of local and international musicians. All front-of-house and hospitality roles are filled by a team of volunteers. Friday Music is a not-for-profit activity, with donations collected at the door to pay the musicians.

The audience includes people from the local community and some tourists and visitors to Sydney. It especially caters for people who love classical and operatic music, but are also seeking to meet people, build new friendships, find people with shared interests, and support musicians.

Volunteers share in the following tasks according to their skills:

  • Setting up and packing up the ‘Ticket Desk’;
  • Greeting at the door and collecting donations (cash and card purchases);
  • Handing out concert programs and promotional materials;
  • Answering questions about upcoming events, and the St Stephen’s building and other activities.

Volunteers are able to join with the audience to enjoy the music as their duties allow.

Volunteers should be available from 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm (one and a half hours). Friday Music concerts are held once a week on Fridays (except for January, Good Friday and Christmas Day).

This volunteer position will suit people who have time available once a week during the day; who enjoy hospitality and helping to provide a warm, friendly atmosphere; and those who enjoy classical and operatic music.
