About this opportunity
The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Uniting Victoria & Tasmania.
During these challenging times we need volunteers more than ever, to support isolated people in our community to feel socially connected again. If you’re a ‘people person’ and would like to make a difference to the life of someone who is socially isolated we would love to hear from you!
Jill* enjoys reading, researching, watching documentaries, doing crosswords, and listening to the radio. She's looking for a volunteer with a broad range of interests. Jill* would be best suited to a positive and engaging volunteer with an interest in psychology, animals and the environment!
You will support and encourage Jill* to achieve her social goals and creatively reconnect with her interest in horse riding. Practical communication skills and a willingness to share home and community based visits are essential. Outings may include going for a walk, having a coffee and engaging in conversation. You will have a valid driver’s license and your own car to transport Jill* in during visits. The skills and confidence to work independently are a must. Induction, ongoing supervision and opportunities for professional development provided.
*Participant's name has been altered to maintain her privacy. Interested? *Please note that during COVID-19 this role will commence over the phone, which will enable you to establish rapport and connection with Jill and enable her to stay connected to the community.
