About this opportunity

The volunteer will support the Parents/Carers in the Parent and Carer Resource Centre (PCRC), they will need to welcome them into the room, help them with any requests, offer and make them refreshments, maintain the PCRC and kept it clean and tidy .

The Parent and Carer Resource Centre at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead provides a calm and non-medical place for parents to have some time to relax during hospital visits. Parents and carers can access the internet, read the paper or chat with one of our volunteers who look after the room. Volunteers can also help guide parents to relevant resources and information they may need.

Volunteers need to be 18+ years of age and have excellent communication skills, an open and friendly attitude and have a compassionate and caring nature.

Training - provided, 4 sessions with another volunteer, one training session with manager and 8 hours online training. Yearly Fire training required.

Additional requirements

Covid-19 vaccination . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.

Immunizations required - Tuberculosis (TB) (just need to fill in a form) * Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis * Hepatitis B * Measles, Mumps, Rubella * Varicella (Chicken Pox) •Covid 19 immunization and yearly flu.

Time Required

Saturday, Sundays 10-2pm and Saturday, Sundays 2-6pm monthly. Monday, Tuesday, Friday weekly 2 hours
