The Orangutan Project is expanding and we're looking for a Fundraising Team Leader to help set up and manage our fundraising team in the Mornington Peninsula. Fundraising activities can be focused around locations that are convenient for you. Our team leaders are one of the most important roles to help us grow, and the time to join us is now!
About the role
This position reports to and is supported by the Volunteers Fundraising Manager. This role is primarily about team management, fundraising and event coordination.
Our Team Leaders play a central role in The Orangutan Project to raise much-needed funds to save orangutans and their rainforest homes.
The role includes:
- managing and training your team of volunteers
- planning and coordinating fundraising events
- booking and managing stalls at markets and community festivals to seek donations and sell merchandise
- talking to people about the threats facing orangutans and the role TOP plays in Sumatra and Borneo
- managing, ordering and storing merchandise
- banking funds raised and maintaining associated records
- communicating regularly with your volunteers, TOP staff and the Volunteers Fundraising Manager
You're passionate about the environment, especially about saving orangutans and other species from extinction, and protecting the rainforests we all rely on.
You are a proactive self-starter, and an excellent communicator who loves getting out and about in your local community. You have time and energy to put into this role, including occasional volunteering on weekends and evenings.
You’ll need some experience in either team management or fundraising.
A good understanding of customer service principles, strong organisational skills, and being able to work in a virtual environment will all help you to be successful.

Driver's Licence (C) .
You must have the right to volunteer in Australia, as well as a driver's licence and access to a car. You will also need space to store merchandise and equipment.
Fundraising Team Leaders volunteer for around 10+ hours per month, usually involving one weekend and some evenings. Hours will vary, depending on the time of year and the activities you have planned.Type of work

Training and induction is provided when you are accepted as a TOP volunteer. Training in how to talk to the public about TOP and our work, as well as in team management, communications, fundraising, finance and event coordination is available.Reimbursement
