About this opportunity
Are you interested in joining a group of friendly people to help save orangutans and rainforests?
Join us at The Orangutan Project! We're recruiting volunteers to help us raise funds in cities and regional areas across Australia.
Fundraising and Events Volunteers are crucial in assisting us to raise funds to save orangutans and their rainforest homes. As Australia emerges from Covid restrictions, now is a great time to join us!
About Fundraising and Events Volunteers You will report to and be supported by a Regional Representative and you'll work with other passionate, like-minded volunteers. You'll raise funds in different ways at festivals, markets, trivia nights and other fundraising events.
Your main task is to encourage people to take out orangutan adoptions, buy merchandise, or provide donations. You'll also help people understand the threats facing orangutans and the vital role we're playing to save many species from extinction.
As part of a friendly team of committed volunteers, you can also get involved in helping to plan our fundraising. This is a fun and exciting role where you can spread your wings while raising funds to save orangutans and rainforests in Sumatra and Borneo.
About you You're passionate about the environment, especially saving orangutans and other wildlife from extinction and protecting rainforests.
You're a great communicator and you like getting out and about in your community. You have time and energy to work at markets and festivals, and you want to make a difference by volunteering with an environmental charity. You enjoy working on a team.
Experience Experience in retail, events, fundraising or customer service would be useful but you'll also receive training in these skills.
Whether you're new to events and fundraising or not, this role will be a great step in your career and will give you experience and skills to help you achieve your goals.
