About this opportunity
A community visitor is a person who sets aside time, once a fortnight, to visit and befriend a resident of an aged care home. People of many cultural or varied backgrounds are to be found in an aged care centre, and therefore community visitors from all backgrounds are welcomed.
Residents of aged care facilities are visited who do not have regular contact with relatives or friends from outside the aged care home, or require further company to reduce social isolation. You might sit and chat, work on a hobby together, or discuss the local news, read a book or watch something from the internet from your iPhone/tablet device.
Contact is made by phone or video-call when COVID-19 restrictions are in place.
Volunteers urgently required in Sydney's south. Residents in facilities in the Sutherland Shire would welcome your visit right now!
