About this opportunity
During these challenging times we need volunteers more than ever, to support isolated people in our community to feel socially connected again. If you’re a ‘people person’ and would like to make a difference to the life of someone who is socially isolated we would love to hear from you!
Uniting is seeking an open minded, positive, vibrant, outgoing volunteer with a good sense of humour to support Lea* to achieve her social goals. You'll need the ability to creatively reconnect Lea* to her interests and passions. A shared interest in gardening, dancing, socializing, learning and watching movies would be advantageous.
Practical communication skills and a willingness to share both home and community-based visits essential. Visits may include going out for a meal, walks and engaging in lively conversation. Your own vehicle will be required to transport Lea* on outings. Valid driver’s license necessary. The skills and confidence to work independently are a must. Induction, ongoing supervision and opportunities for professional development provided.
Please note that during COVID-19 this role will commence over the phone, which will enable you to establish rapport and connection with Lea and enable her to stay connected to the community. **Participant's name has been altered to maintain her privacy. Interested? For further information, please contact 13 93 75 and quote LY-S-10.
