About this opportunity

Fred's Van provides a free evening meal in Adelaide CBD 5 nights per week, serving 20,000 people each year who may be experiencing homelessness and sleeping rough. This service provides a meal from a van, on the streets of Adelaide and has been operating for over 25 years.

This role will suit someone who is local to the Hawthorn facility, has the ability to work unsupervised when full support and training has been provided. Someone who has an interest in the work that we do, and has time during the date to provide a flexible approach to this unusual role

The role duties include: •attending on a Friday to ensure the food supplies are to hand for the teams •general stock-take of kitchen items to ensure supplies are held •liaising with other volunteers who are involved in Fred's Van

Support will be provided by the Coordinator of the service.

* As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance).
* Best practice volunteer involvement recommends that a volunteer role should not be more than 15-16 hours per week.

Time Required

Flexible time of approx. 1.5 hours on a Friday. Anytime between 9.30am - 4.30pm
