Laneway Cafe: A cafe without borders is a project of Centre for Participation. The social enterprise aims to support vulnerable communities across the Wimmera to learn, connect, discover and create.

Laneway Cafe are offering interested volunteers opportunities to participate in their Food Van, which currently supports health workers at the Wimmera Base Hospital (Horsham, Victoria). During the Coronavirus pandemic, the van will require volunteers to support the team with heating, packaging and selling quality food to hospital staff and the public. This opportunity gives volunteers the chance to "give back," develop work-ready skills, enjoy time out with others (social distancing applies) and that great sense of contributing to something bigger than oneself.

Volunteers will need to be healthy and have had no contact with anyone ill in the previous 14 days of their shift. A health statement will need to be signed. Volunteers must stop volunteering if they know they have been in contact with someone who is unwell or they feel unwell at any time.

Key responsibilities of this position: -Follow work instructions and safe operating procedures. -Maintain confidentiality about people and business operations. -Be scrupulously clean and hygienic particularly regarding personal and food hygiene. -Be fit and healthy.

Desirable personal skills: -Experience with food preparation or working in hospitality. -Hold a Level 1 Food Safety Certificate. -Ability to follow instructions. -Able to commit to being available on a pre-arranged roster. -Punctual and efficient. -Ability to problem-solve.

Driver's Licence (C) . Heavy Lifting . Medical Check *. National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.

Volunteers will need to provide references and identification to satisfy the National Police Check. A Victorian Working with Children Check is also required. Volunteers in this position must sign a Statement of Good Health.

Time Required

Flexible commitment as per availability. There are two shifts available either morning or afternoon OR one shift from mid-morning to early afternoon. Rosters available and pre-arranged with volunteers.
