About this opportunity

Habari

We believe that all Australians deserve to feel a sense of belonging and recognition in their communities. This includes those who have a personal or family history of having arrived seeking a safe place to live. One of the ways we achieve this is by running monthly activities where our members can forge friendships and have fun!

We aim to create a relaxed environment where all our members feel comfortable and supported. You’ll agree that it can be harder to feel at ease enough to speak with others when English isn’t your first language. Many people find it easier to connect with others when some people around them are fluent in both their first language and English. This is essential to maintain the interest of our guests, beyond one or two events. We would be grateful to have your assistance in building connections so that everyone feels part of the conversation.

Building a more compassionate and inclusive society really matters to us at Land of Welcome. So, we are working to expand our organisation to include a greater variety of cultural and faith community groups. We’d love to become part of your community or welcome your members to work with us, as soon as convenient for all. Your knowledge and experience is invaluable in helping us identify how best to connect with and support culturally diverse communities. As we are a growing organisation, there are many opportunities for you to lead initiatives that you are passionate about and help us engage in a manner that is more inclusive.

So what do you have to gain? — Supportive team environment — Chance to make a difference with Australians of culturally diverse backgrounds — Create lasting friendships — Opportunity to partake in leadership and partnership roles — Lead projects that you are passionate about

Our biggest successes are shown in the friendships and memories our members make together, so we look forward to getting to know you! Please fill out this short online application and we will be in touch with you soon.

Asante
