About this opportunity

The Role

Volunteers are key members of our team delivering vital food relief to women and children affected by family violence across Melbourne. inTouch has seen an increase in requests for help due to the pandemic, with new and former clients reaching out for help. Many of them have no access to any government support. We provide culturally appropriate, local, quality food to women, while also providing health information (in their own language), masks and general wellbeing checks.

Volunteers are vital to this project, responsible for delivering food packs and checking on the wellbeing of clients. You will be paired with a volunteer partner and provided with PPE and thorough induction before delivering food across Melbourne. The day lasts from approx. 8.30-5.30, starting and finishing in Richmond.

Skills and Experience

Each delivery team (2 people) includes someone with training and experience to ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients and volunteers. We are currently seeking 1 volunteer to fill this role.

You should have a Cert IV in Community Services (or similar) and experience working in areas such as community services, family violence, CALD communities, counselling, crisis response or case management. You should be confident and calm, and have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Volunteers must comfortable lifting boxes (up to 8kg) and be over 18 to undertake this role. Volunteers will be expected to drive throughout metropolitan Melbourne, and will be provided with appropriate permits and support to do so during the current restrictions.

At least 2 Thursdays/month for the next few months to support food deliveries
