Receptionist (Volunteer)
About this opportunity
Roles Include -
- Meet and greet all visitors to the museum and answer any enquires
- Promote the museum effectively to entice entry of potential visitors
- Sell entry tickets and provide orientation and information about exhibits
- Answer phone and take messages accurately and transfer calls to relevant departments
- Use customer service skills to sell products for daily budgets
- Manage the cash register and EFTPOS machine, ensure the float balances at the end of the day
- Monitor and reply to emails accordingly and forward to relevant department where applicable
- Maintain retail stock and assist with monthly stock takes.
- Daily housekeeping of reception and retail area and is well maintained at all times
Operating the gift shop attached to the reception area will also be part of the role.
Additional requirements
Covid-19 vaccination . Working with Children Check *.
Desirable but not essential
- bilingual
- knowledge of local area
- able to work a second shift in a week
Requirements
- Be responsible, honest , punctual and reliable
- Have a friendly , outgoing , proactive attitude
- Have good verbal communication skills to deal politely and effectively with the public from diverse background
- be computer literate and able to readily =access emails
- Be an Effective team player
- Able to work well under pressure
- Retail and / or sales experience is an advantage
- 15 Dollars for Historical Society membership and 45 Dollars for the T-shirt.
1 day for 5 hours, choice of volunteer
