Mahboba’s Promise is an Australian non-profit organisation dedicated to providing a sustainable future to vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan. Over the past twenty-two years, Mahboba’s Promise has adhered to the values of compassion and integrity to empower women and children to make a lasting difference in their own lives. We have established schools, shelters and health clinics across Afghanistan and provide sponsorships for girls’ education, widows, and orphans.

We are looking for someone passionate about human rights or development causes to volunteer as the Executive Assistant to our Founder. Our Founder remains involved in fundraising/stakeholder management and the EA will have a deep insight into the workings of an NFP.

Hours are flexible to meet study or work needs. The role would also suit a retiree with relevant experience. We are seeking someone who can commit to 2 days a week.

Responsibilities As part of the role you will undertake tasks including:

  • Working closely with the Founder to manage correspondence - responding to emails, calls, managing diaries, travel and meeting coordination
  • Work closely with Founder to manage her speaking enagements and work with other members of the team or organise relevant collateral
  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Founder
  • Support the Founder with managing key stakeholder relationships
  • Conduct research/analysis as directed by the Founder
  • Provide update to General Manager of Founders activities
  • Other reasonable duties as directed by the Founder

Eligibility Criteria The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to synthesise and convey dictated information to written communications
  • Previous experience in an administrative capacity such as an EA or PA is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Positive with a can do attitude
  • Native or fluent proficiency in English
  • Farsi/Dari speakers are encouraged to apply

This is an unpaid, voluntary position. Volunteers of Mahboba’s Promise are covered by our public liability insurance

Time Required

Two days per week. Volunteer hours are flexible around study, work and other commitments.
