Pilbara RYDE Driving Mentor
About this opportunity
Not all young people have access to the fundamentals they need to be able to complete their 50 hours of supervised driving. Sometimes they won’t have access to a car or a supervisor and often cannot offered the costs associated with paying for private driving lessons.
As a volunteer Driving Mentor, you will help to remove these barriers experienced by disadvantaged young people when trying to obtain their licence. Driving Mentors will take participants for drives in the Karratha suburbs and surrounding areas. The sessions are a chance for young people to practice driving and complete their required 50 hours of supervised driving.
The primary role of a Driving Mentor is to build up participant’s confidence and hours on the road. Driving Mentors may also demonstrate different driving skills like parking and negotiating roundabouts. The Driving Mentor role is a rewarding experience as you build positive relationships with participants and assist them to achieve their goals.
