The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of You Matter.
At You Matter, we create welcoming styled homes using good quality second hand and new items donated by the community. We use these donated items to provide the gift of a fully functioning home for victims of domestic violence. We require energetic people who are happy to work in a team environment with the sole purpose of providing a family with a warm and welcoming new home.
In this flexible role you will work in small teams moving furniture into and decorating a new home. Larger furniture items are installed by removalists but there is some lifting and carrying involved in this role. Home set ups usually take between two to four hours and can occur on any day from Monday to Friday. There is usually only a few days notice before a Home Set Up and dates can change at short notice. You need only volunteer if the day and time suits you. To sign up to work on a given home set up, you simply respond to an email request for vounteers as it suits you. These homes can be within Boroondara or can be up to 45 minutes drive away. You will need a drivers licence and means of transport, although car pooling to more distant locations is usually possible. Please note all volunteers require a Police Check and Working With Children's Card.

This position requires and energetic person who is happy to work in a team environment with the sole purpose of providing a family with a warm and welcoming new home. Tasks involved in this role include everthing required to move in and set up a small home. A reasonable level of fitness is needed as volunteers will be making beds, unpacking boxes and moving decorator items in. Some experience or interest in interior design is desirable but not essential.
