About this opportunity
Duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform patient rounding
- Engage in non-intrusive, friendly conversation
- Offer tea, coffee and fill water jugs if applicable
- Attend to the comfort needs of patients and their visitors including additional blankets, pillows and additional chairs for visitors
- Attend to patients flowers as necessary
- Offer assistance packing and unpacking bags
- Provide lunch and dinner assistance
- Assist patients completing claim forms and support the patient discharge process
- Maintain general tidiness of the ward and administrative duties such as replenishing forms in patient history boxes and bedside information

- Between 18 - 80 years of age
- Successful Police and Working with Children’s Check
- Physically able to perform the role
- Make a weekly commitment, for a minimum of 12 months
- Have a strong commitment to supporting and assisting others
- Take pride in your work
- Protect patient and visitor confidentially
- Be accountable and reliable
- Demonstrate compassion and understanding
- Be interested in learning new skills
- Be flexible to undertake a variety of roles
- Be committed to ongoing relevant training
Please note - to volunteer at St John of God Geelong, you must be fully vaccinated
against COVID-19.
Flexible shifts are available from Monday to Friday either 9-12pm or 1-4pm shifts. Ideally a commitment of 3 hours per week with a minimum of 12 months duration. Additional information is available from the agency.
