Environment & Conservation Regular - more than 6 months Across: Hobart TAS, Bellerive TAS, Blackmans Bay TAS, Claremont TAS, Glenorchy TAS, Kingston TAS, Sandy Bay TAS

About this opportunity

Are you interested in joining a community of like-minded people to help save orangutans?

We're recruiting an Assistant Team leader to work closely with our wonderful Hobart Team Leader. You'll help us expand our fundraising and even organise your own events!

At The Orangutan Project, you’ll meet passionate people who are making a real difference to help orangutans and the forest communities who share their home. Best of all, 100 per cent of the donations you collect will go directly to supporting orangutan conservation projects!

The Orangutan Project highly values our wonderful volunteers and the enormous contribution they make. Our volunteers help to raise much needed funds and awareness about the urgency of conservation of Critically Endangered orangutans and Indonesian rainforests.

Our volunteers come from many different backgrounds and bring diverse experience and skills. As a volunteer, there are lots of things that you can do to make a difference. You can choose what you do and how much time you contribute.

A few ways you can contribute: • Set up and lead a team in your area, coordinating events, market stalls and fundraisers • Join the Hobart Team Leader to help sell merchandise and raise funds at market stalls • Place donation boxes at shops in your area • Sell chocolates at your place of work or local shops • Coordinate an event such as a trivia night • Organise and present at primary schools or workplaces to raise awareness and funds

Why volunteer with the Orangutan Project? • Personal satisfaction in knowing that you have contributed to saving orangutans from extinction and helped forest communities • Being part of a great team, having fun and meeting people while actively engaging in your community • Developing skills and experiences that will increase your employability • A tangible way to give back and knowing that 100% of funds raised goes directly to conservation work in Sumatra and Borneo
