DIVRS’ Urban Food Program (UFP) focuses on projects and initiatives designed to address the challenges of food insecurity in Darebin.

The purpose of this role is to create a more sustainable community by re-localizing food production, distribution and consumption. To provide fresh food for DIVRS’ emergency relief packages

Driver's Licence (F) . National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Harvest fruit from trees in Darebin and transport back to DIVRS backyard for weighing and record keeping
• To determine appropriate equipment required to complete the job based on case notes and transport equipment to household as required.
• To care for and maintain all DIVRS equipment and report any damage/incident back to the Urban Food Coordinator. To assist with general maintenance onsite as required
To care for fruit trees onsite (both planted in the DIVRS garden and trees potted up ready for sale)
• Work as part of a partnership/small team to engage with householders, assess tree health and make recommendations for how to care for and maintain fruit trees.
• To follow established administrative organisation procedures as per organisations and projects requirements, including updating all fruit picking activities online using QR codes
• Help with evaluation of the project through accurate recording of fruit/vegetable production

Useful Qualifications:

• Horticulture/Permaculture qualifications and experience highly desirable

Time Required

The position is on a voluntary basis. · You are expected to assist a minimum of 3 fruit pick shifts per year to maintain your position on the Fruit Squad. Duration of a shift can range from 3-4 hours. Longer shifts may be required from time to time and the Urban Food Coordinator will advise as required. · The term of this volunteer position is subject to performance and the needs of the organisation. · It is expected that both parties provide two weeks’ notice regarding leave and changes to a
