Come on board and work with our friendly team of drivers as a Bus Assistant Volunteer!
We are looking for committed local volunteers to support the safe and reliable transportation of clients by assisting them when boarding and leaving the vehicle.
No experience is necessary and all training is provided. All you need is be able to assist people with mobility aids, good communication skills and a commitment to help a variety of people from diverse backgrounds. You will also need to provide a police check and working with children’s check (WWCC).
Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Assist clients on and off the bus
Assist driver with directions to destinations
Call clients from bus mobile when necessary
Provide assistance to clients and ensure safe door to door service
Ensure all clients have seat belts fastened
The volunteer must have a sensitive and caring attitude and respect for frail aged and younger people with disabilities along with good communication skills to enable clear and precise instructions from clients regarding their needs.
Engage with the community, exposure to aged/disability sector, satisfaction of enriching lives of others, reimbursements for out of pocket expenses up to $20 for lunch when on outings.
National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.
Split shifts starting and finishing at one of our Eastern suburbs depots. Morning shift 9am-11am. Afternoon shift 1pm-3pm.Suitable for
