Secretary (Volunteer)

About this opportunity

We are seeking applications for an experienced non-for-profit organisation Secretary to assist Furry Friends to meet its formal requirements under the Rules of Association and ACNC and overseeing and managing the Rules of Association in line with regulations, by-laws and policies

Key responsibilities will include:

  • perform the duties and responsibility of a Secretary which includes statutory records/registers are completed and lodged and records are maintained
  • support the President, FFARQ volunteers and committee members with meetings and provide assistance with committee papers, agendas, compilation and circulation of papers and minutes of meetings
  • carry out other duties including reporting, governance, annual financial statements, annual report, general meetings, guidance to committee members and liaise with accountants, lawyers and other professional advisors
  • required to attend relevant team meetings, general meetings and annual general meeting

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Governance, Law and/or Business or strong demonstrated experience in Secretary responsibilities
  • Knowledge or experience of business and committee procedures
  • Understanding and acceptance of legal duties, and responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
  • Minute taking experience

Additional requirements

As this role is primarily virtual or home-based, you will need (at your own expense) a reliable computer, mobile phone and internet and antivirus and a facebook account.

Applicants must be eligible to live and work in Australia.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over

Time Required

Minimum 5 hours a week for 6 months, as well as attending fortnightly meetings, monthly General Meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
