Digital Mentors

Community Services Regular - more than 6 months Busselton WA, Dunsborough WA

About this opportunity

The Busselton and Dunsborough Public Libraries in partnership with the Be Connected Network, are currently seeking 10 – 20 volunteers to be trained as Digital Mentors. As a Digital Mentor, you will work one-on-one assisting older persons with learning the basics of how to connect online, including how to: • Use a digital device • Be safe online • Send emails • Use Facebook and other social media • Shop online • Download library resources • Share holiday photos with family, and much more. If you have basic computer skills, and can commit 1 to 2 hours per week sharing your knowledge, patience and customer service skills, the libraries would like to hear from you. You will have access to a suite of learning resources and toolkits to help you become a great mentor. (Be Connected is an Australian Government Initiative aimed at improving the confidence, skills and online safety of older Australians in using digital technology.) A current WA Police Check is required for this role.

Skill 1: Basic Digital literacy skills, including a familiarity with digital devices such as iPads, tablets and smart phones. Monday: AM, PM Tuesday: AM, PM Wednesday: AM, PM Thursday: AM, PM Friday: AM, PM


Additional requirements

National Police Certificate *.

For this rewarding opportunity you will require a friendly disposition, excellent customer service skills, patience and a professional attitude. You will also possess basic computer, digital literacy skills, awareness of various devices, phones and tablets, and have a genuine desire to help older people improve their digital literacy skills.

Volunteers will need to obtain a Police Clearance, cost is approximately $50 and is the responsibility of the volunteer.

Time Required

If you have basic computer skills, and can commit 1 to 2 hours any day Monday - Friday per week
