About this opportunity
QSHBA is a volunteer-run not-for-profit group that is very active in the community, with 4 permanent performance bands: the Queensland Mounted Infantry Historical Troop Band, the Queensland Show Band, the Bayside Youth Band and QSHBA Drum Corps. Our bands perform regularly at community events including ANZAC Day services, Bayside Carols, Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and tours of RSLs and residential care homes.
With current volunteers focused on teaching and performance roles, we need one or more volunteers to help keep us going behind the scenes, assisting with clerical duties, band room maintenance, as well as library and asset management using paper and computerised systems.
The main activity times are Monday afternoons and evenings, and Tuesday afternoons. Some tasks may be performed at other times.
Volunteers will have an opportunity to strengthen their clerical and library skills, learn more about Queensland's musical history and contribute to a group that supports the broader community. There is also potential for volunteers to develop skills in tour management and grant writing.
You will be welcomed to join us on our overnight bus trips and tours (BYO swag) when we visit places such as Tenterfield, Stanthorpe, Toowoomba and Maleney to perform (although this is purely optional).
National Police Certificate *. Working with Children Check *.
Organisation skills and attention to detail are needed to keep track of our valuable inventory of musical instruments and other assets.
While some of the work could be done on a project basis, we have a preference for one or more long term volunteers, as there is lots to learn for the right candidate/s wanting to become a valuable member of the team.
Volunteers with skills and/or an interest in grant writing will also be welcomed.
