Community Gardeners
About this opportunity
Do you want to make a real difference to someone in your community to assist them to live independently in their homes? Many elderly people are no longer physically able to do their own gardening but can't afford to pay a professional gardening company, often leaving their garden unsafe to use. St John Ambulance Community Care provide volunteer gardeners to assist in ensuring their garden is safe and accessible.
As a Volunteer gardener some of the tasks you will perform are :
- Lawn mowing
- Whipper snipping
- Light weeding of garden beds
- Light trimming of shrubs
- Leaf blowing
The gardening service operates from Monday to Friday between 9am and 3.30pm, within the greater Hobart area.
Additional requirements
Covid-19 vaccination . Driver's Licence (F) . National Police Certificate *. Working with Vulnerable People Check .
Gardening Volunteers are required to have a manual drivers license, to utilize our gardening vehicle.
Good communication and social skills
Please Note: As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the level of coverage for volunteers due to various restrictions to ensure they are covered for the roles they will be undertaking.
