About this opportunity

We are currently needing additional volunteer drivers to help with our vital transport service. We provide reliable, efficient transport for the frail older people in our community who are without the support of family or friends able to transport them to medical and allied health appointments. Volunteer drivers are required during normal business hours although occasional early morning and weekend bookings do occur. Locations include Flinders Medical Centre, city hospitals, Noarlunga and Fleurieu region and locally. Serviced by 5 cars.

Skills / Abilities Required • Must hold a current and unrestricted drivers licence. • May need to obtain a clearance from a medical practitioner regarding their ability to perform their activities as a volunteer driver. • Need to be able to read road maps and street directories & use a mobile phone. • Need to be able to communicate at all levels within our community. • Need empathy with people who are frail, older persons, people with a disability, vision impaired and people with dementia. • Must be able to move passengers safely and being aware of passenger concerns. eg speed. Passengers must feel at ease in the vehicle.

Volunteer Driver Responsibilities: • Take reasonable care to protect your own health and safety when in the driver volunteer role. • Participate in “Volunteer Driver Induction” and training as needed. • Maintain a current and unrestricted drivers licence. • Be concerned with passenger safety at all times. • Be punctual, reliable, honest and friendly. • Be patient with those passengers whose mobility is reduced or impaired.


Additional requirements

Covid-19 vaccination . Driver's Licence (C) . National Police Certificate *.

National Police Clearance, current unrestricted drivers licence, medical clearance, good communication skills, empathy with the elderly and frail, be able to us a mobile phone, and able to read maps.
Be willing to participate in 'Volunteer Driver Induction' training.
Minimum of three Covid-19 vaccinations

Time Required

Monday to Friday - normal business hours - some early starts and occasional weekends (to be negotiated)
