YPRL is seeking a new **Reading Dogs team** to join Thomastown Library. Our Reading Dogs program promotes children’s literacy by having children read aloud to dogs at the library. Our mission is to make reading fun and enjoyable for children so that they become confident and lifelong readers. Reading Dogs are accredited companion animals who volunteer with their owner/handler as a team by facilitating reading sessions. Make a positive impact on the lives of our elderly in aged care! Gregory Lodge located in Flemington requires volunteers to come in with their friendly pet dog to interact with the residents.

Million Paws Walk attracts thousands of people and their dogs across Victoria, raising much-needed funds for ‘all creatures great and small’. It is the RSPCA’s major fundraising event of the year and without the generous support of the community and volunteers we would not be able to raise the vital funds needed to care for lost, abandoned and rescued animals. We do everything we can to give each animal a second chance at happiness. Events like Million Paws Walk help us to achieve this.

Shelter attendant volunteers are responsible predominantly for the cleaning of indoor rabbit enclosures and maintaining the cleanliness at the rabbit orphanage. You will be working in a mainly indoor environment.

The Coordinator will commence as a dog reading team volunteer and after two school terms receive training to take on the Coordinator position. The Coordinator will recruit, train, support, manage and give recognition to volunteers within the region. The position will also raise awareness of the Story Dogs brand and services. This is a non paid, volunteer role. This role requires you to have a suitable dog.
